Gargalesthesia: The sensation of being tickled

A snippit of Moonracer’s life before joining the femmes. You’ll probably also notice that she’s written differently here than she is normally, more headstrong and arrogant. You’ll see what I mean.
Title: Unexpected
Summary: Shepard was a war hero. An icon. She was the best the Alliance had to offer, and during her years of service, she’d learn to expect the unexpected, and take life’s surprises in stride. But there was no training or experience that could have prepared her for the this…
A/N: A gift fic for my friend Anna.
Enjoy your headcanon you wacko.
Oh Anna~

So, I thought I posted this forever ago, and it turns out I didn’t? So here you are now.
Warning: It’s a bit on the long side.

Prompt 4: Love
Character: SG!Flip Sides
I haven’t written any kind of fanfiction in quite a while, but I thought I’d give it a go. Feedback is welcome uwu
Basically, it’s a small part of an idea of why there were no sign of the femmes by the movie/season 3. Also using a bit of AU based on the IA roleplay because certain people deserve to cry for giving me this idea in the first place.
Warning: character death
Rewind stared at his twin with pleading optics. Things had gotten out of control, and he needed his brother’s help.
He already had Rosanna and Flip Sides on his side, though he could tell by the look on his eldest sister’s faceplates that she would be having words with him for this later.
But now what wasn’t the time to think about that. Action needed to be taken, and he couldn’t do this without his athletic twin. He wouldn’t want to, even if he could anyway.
He sent a nudge to him through their bond. “Please, Eject. We need you!”
After a few more moments of rare, shocked silence, Eject spoke.
“See, this is what happens when you split those bunnies of yours up with the co-ed team. You get way too many new players.”
… Yeah, mmhmm, I know who you are.

“… And right over there, that’s Rho Theta!”
Red Alert’s optics followed where the young sharpshooter pointed. Farther to the west was a small collection of stars, forming a cross-like shape in the sky. But his attention was on her, not the stars. He smiled as she explained to him what she knew about the heavens, and as her warm yellow optics lit up excitedly as she told the story about ‘the Lonely Seeker, Rho Theta’. He leaned back on his arms, feeling a warmth and contentment he hadn’t felt in quite some time as he sat with his femme…
… Until he remembered something very important. Moonracer wasn’t his. She never had been. Even before he met her, she was spoken for. He had to remind himself of this, even now: she was his friend, not his femme. He turned away from her for a moment. He respected her choice. But it wasn’t what he wanted.
His spark had been broken before, and deep down, he knew he was longing for someone to replace that feeling he had lost. He thought for a moment that the mint green sharpshooter would be the one to heal him. But even after he confessed his feelings to her, which he rightfully knew would be rejected, she didn’t reject him. She kept a hand of friendship held out for him, because that’s how she was, and he graciously took it. And in a way, she was healing him. Just not in the way he had expected.
“Red, you alright?”
The medic was pulled from his thoughts as he turned toward the smaller femme, who was giving him a confused look. He must have seemed bored.
He smiled. “Yes, I’m fine. Just thinking, is all. Now, what were you saying about that constellation?”
No, it wasn’t what he wanted. But the more he thought about it, maybe it was what he needed.
